SOLID hard drive that works great for your PS4 storage upgrade, March 10, 2015

Works as advertised to upgrade your PS4. Easy as pie to install and came inside a few days in the mail. Solid hard drive without a doubt so far. I recommend this even if you plan on buying the NYKO attachment to expand storage in a few months when it is likely to be released. 4 times the storage for $100 is well worth the price. Just make sure you use a 32GB or smaller flash drive to install the Playstation OS. 64GB and higher uses an incompatible formatting that cannot be changed.

PS4 Hard Drive Replacement Review, March 23, 2015

This review is from: Seagate 2TB Laptop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache 2.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST2000LM003) (Personal Computers)
Got this to upgrade my PS4 hard drive because I buy mostly digital nowadays. The stock 500GB wasn’t quite enough for me, with most AAA titles this generation reaching 30-50GB that’s means 15 or less games could be installed to the drive over the life of the console! Well the last gen alone lasted 8 years… Not gonna cut it.

Being a PC gamer first and foremost, I was really surprised how easy it was to perform the swap. I was kind of expecting it to be something similar in workload to flashing the firmware of the DVD Drive on my 360 years ago *an inconvenience*, because lets face it… traditionally consoles are not engineered to be modular or accessible. It was really easy though, just slide off the cover and remove a few screws, insert new HDD and put everything back in place, you’re good to go. You can even backup and install your system software via USB and the whole process took me about 30 minutes to complete from the time I removed my old hard drive to the moment I finished my PS4 new console setup on the Seagate drive.

As for the drive itself, it’s a 2TB (usable I got 1.77 TB) 5400RPM Seagate, so it’s not gonna blow the doors off the system but it doesn’t need to either. 32MB cache is pretty decent, and it’s SATA 3.0 (6 GBps) which is a positive. Drive speed isn’t something that’s gonna be an enormous deal on console anyway if we’re honest. You could pay over twice the price of this product for an SSD of the same size, and see the incredible rate in it’s performance degradation due to frequent writing and deleting of 30-50GB application files over it’s lifespan.

Good product, and a worthwhile investment. It does what it’s supposed to, it’s 4 times the size of the OEM HDD, and it’s slightly quicker too (it makes just slightly less noise than the original drive did, which for me bordered on annoying).

If you have a MacBook with a CDRom that you don’t use and need extra storage look into the kit to delete you CDRom and put this, May 9, 2015

I have a mid 2012 MBP, 16 GB DDR3 with a wuad core I7. I removed the CDRom and installed an aftermarket caddy that allows you to have two hard drives in a MBP. I have had this running as my second drive for a few weeks and zero issues!

If you have a MacBook with a CDRom that you don’t use and need extra storage look into the kit to delete you CDRom and put this bad boy in there!

    You will not regret it!
